Sterling sub-machine gun, pistol recovered in Rajbari; two held
RAB recovered the firearms and ammunition during two intelligence-led raids in Rajbari Sadar and Goalanda targeting illegal weapons and criminal activities.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two suspected criminals in separate raids in Rajbari, recovering a foreign-made Sterling sub-machine gun, a pistol and 34 rounds of live ammunition.
The arrests were made yesterday (5 August) during intelligence-based operations in Rajbari Sadar and Goalanda upazilas, RAB-10 Commanding Officer Additional DIG Mohammad Asaduzzaman said at a press briefing at the RAB Media Centre in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar today (6 August).
The arrestees are Md Momin Molla, 40, and Hasan Ali Biswas, 36.
According to RAB, a team from its Faridpur camp carried out the raids as part of an operation against illegal firearms and criminal activities.
At around 6:45pm, RAB arrested Momin from the Mohishkhola Mollabari area under Pachuria Union in Rajbari Sadar. The elite force recovered a Sterling sub-machine gun, two magazines, 28 rounds of live ammunition and two mobile phones from his possession.
In a separate raid at around 10:15pm near Jalil Member Bridge in Chhoto Bhakla Union of Goalanda, RAB arrested Hasan and seized a foreign-made pistol, one magazine, six rounds of live ammunition, several locally made weapons, four mobile phones and Tk15,300 in cash.
RAB said legal action has been initiated against the two suspects under the relevant laws.
