Man detained after 'trying to swallow earring' he snatched from woman in Kamalapur
Traffic police detained the 25-year-old suspect with help from locals.
A 25-year-old man allegedly tried to swallow an earring after snatching it from a woman walking along a road in the capital's Kamalapur this morning (20 August).
The incident took place around 10am in front of the Miami bus counter, according to police.
The suspect, identified as Sahed, was detained by a traffic sergeant with the help of locals and later handed over to Motijheel Police Station, said Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Media and Public Relations Division.

Niaz said Sahed snatched the woman's earring while she was walking along the road.
When people noticed the incident, he tried to swallow the earring, the DMP official said.
The traffic sergeant assigned to Kamalapur-1 detained him with help from locals, Niaz said.
Legal action against the suspect is being processed, he added.
