DB recovers 4 firearms, arrests 2 in raid on remote Ctg hills

The Chattogram district Detective Branch (DB) of Police have arrested two suspected armed criminals and recovered four firearms, a cache of sharp weapons and two mobile phones during a raid in a remote hilly area of Chattogram's Patiya upazila.
Confirming the matter at a press briefing today (25 July), Chattogram Superintendent of Police Md Masud Alam said the district DB conducted the operation in the remote hills of Kelishahar union yesterday afternoon based on a tip-off, despite the risk of armed resistance.
The arrestees were identified as Delwar Hossain, 54, and Mohsin, 33, both residents of Innarpara in Kelishahar union.

Based on the suspects' information, police searched Delwar's house and recovered locally made sharp weapons and two mobile phones.
In a subsequent raid at the Chatibhanga area, detectives recovered two single-barrel shotguns and two locally made LG firearms that had been hidden there.
Preliminary investigation found that the firearms and sharp weapons had been stockpiled for use in criminal and terrorist activities, police said.
Masud Alam said efforts were underway to identify other suspects involved, trace the source of the weapons and bring the entire criminal network to justice. Legal action has been initiated against the two arrestees.
