Mitford murder trial: 2 more witnesses testify, next hearing on 6 Sep
An eyewitness and a neighbouring shopkeeper testified as the trial against 21 accused moved forward, with the next hearing set for 6 September.
Two more witnesses today (23 August) testified in the murder case against 21 people over the killing of scrap trader Lal Chand alias Md Sohag outside Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka.
Sohag's shop employee Md Amir Hossain, who witnessed the killing, and neighbouring shopkeeper Mithun Hawladar gave their statements before Acting Judge Ayesha Akter Mousumi of the Dhaka 1st Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court.
Defence lawyers later cross-examined them.

The court fixed 6 September for the next hearing, said public prosecutor Billal Hossain.
According to the case statement, a group attacked Sohag with stones and sharp weapons around 6pm on 9 July 2025 on Rajani Ghosh Lane near Gate 3 of Mitford Hospital. He died in the attack.
His elder sister Manjuara Begum filed the murder case the following day against 19 people, naming another 15 to 20 unidentified people.
Police later submitted a charge sheet against 21 people. Following a court-ordered reinvestigation, a supplementary charge sheet was submitted on 10 May this year.
The court framed charges against the 21 accused on 12 January. Ten are in jail, eight are absconding and three are out on bail.
