Court summons 4 Ekattor TV officials in fraud case
Former Ekattor TV news coordinator alleges unpaid dues and death threats
A Dhaka court has issued summonses for four officials of private television channel Ekattor TV in a fraud and criminal breach of trust case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter issued the order after recording the statement of the plaintiff, Babul Akhter, a former coordinator of the TV channel's news department, who filed the case on 28 June.
The court directed the accused to appear before it on Thursday (13 August), Babul said today (11 August).

According to the case statement, Babul joined Ekattor TV's news department on 1 May 2025.
On 12 May this year, his biometric fingerprint access and official mobile SIM card were abruptly deactivated without prior notice.
Following a legal notice sent through a lawyer on 12 June, the authorities paid Tk88,125 out of his total dues of Tk2.11 lakh, leaving an outstanding balance of Tk1,23,315.
The plaintiff stated that he verbally informed the accused about the matter and was assured that the remaining dues would be cleared shortly.
When Babul went to the Ekattor TV office in Baridhara on the afternoon of 25 June to demand his unpaid wages, the accused threatened him with consequences and warned of death if he asked for the money again, the complaint alleged.
