Bangladesh's reply began positively despite an early scare for Tanzid, who was dropped before getting off the mark when Nathan Lyon misjudged a chance off Josh Hazlewood at midwicket.
Shadman Islam and Tanzid added 36 for the opening wicket before Mitchell Starc provided Australia's only breakthrough of the innings, dismissing Shadman for 20.
Tanzid and Mominul then negotiated an Australian attack featuring Starc, Pat Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon without further damage, taking Bangladesh safely to the close after 24 overs.
Earlier, Hasan produced a memorable spell to finish with 6-55 from 17 overs as Australia were dismissed for 198 in 53 overs after captain Cummins won the toss and opted to bat.
The 26-year-old pacer became the first Bangladeshi bowler to claim a Test five-wicket haul on Australian soil, while his six-for was also the best Test bowling performance by a Bangladeshi against Australia.
Hasan struck first by dismissing Jake Weatherald for 23 before removing Travis Head for 22. Ebadot Hossain then accounted for Marnus Labuschagne for just one, while Taskin Ahmed removed Cameron Green for 13 as Australia went to lunch struggling at 74-4.
Steve Smith was given a life on two when Tanzid dropped him at slip and went on to lead Australia's resistance. Smith and Alex Carey briefly steadied the innings before Ebadot bowled Carey for 19.
Taskin then removed Beau Webster for 12 before Hasan ripped through the lower order, dismissing Cummins for nine and Mitchell Starc for one.
Smith continued to resist but eventually fell for 71, mistiming a Hasan bouncer into the hands of Litton Das.
Hasan then dismissed Nathan Lyon for seven to wrap up the Australian innings and complete his career-best six-for.
Taskin and Ebadot picked up two wickets each as Bangladesh's three pacers accounted for all 10 Australian wickets.
