Israeli opposition leader Lapid attacks Netanyahu over 'complete failure' on Iran
Lapid said the deal falls short of Israel's key objectives, arguing that the Iranian leadership remains in power, Tehran's missile programme remains intact and Iran retains the capacity to rebuild its nuclear programme
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid on Saturday criticised Benjamin Netanyahu over the emerging US-Iran agreement, calling it a "complete failure" of Israeli war goals.
Lapid said the deal falls short of Israel's key objectives, arguing that the Iranian leadership remains in power, Tehran's missile programme remains intact and Iran retains the capacity to rebuild its nuclear programme, reports Al Jazeera.
"The emerging deal is a complete failure," Lapid said.
He also accused Netanyahu of weakening Israel's diplomatic standing, saying the prime minister's leadership had turned the country into a "client state."
Lapid further said Netanyahu would not be able to conceal what he described as the agreement's shortcomings through media appearances, press conferences or AI-generated videos.
Netanyahu's office did not immediately respond to Lapid's remarks.
The comments come as details of a potential agreement between the United States and Iran continue to emerge, drawing scrutiny from Israeli political leaders and raising questions about the deal's implications for regional security and Iran's nuclear activities.
