Halliburton, KBR oil facilities on fire after drone strike at oil facility in southern Iraq
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Offices and warehouses belonging to US oil service firms Halliburton and KBR reportedly caught fire after a drone strike targeted a facility housing foreign oil company workers in southern Iraq's Basra Province on Friday (6 March).
The drone hit offices and warehouses inside the facility, triggering a large fire, Reports Al Jazeera.
However, there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The strike reportedly marked the second time in a single day that a drone had bypassed defensive systems in the area, highlighting growing security risks around energy infrastructure in Iraq's main oil-producing region.
The attack comes amid escalating regional tensions following the outbreak of war involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Since the conflict intensified, drone and missile attacks have increasingly targeted military positions and strategic infrastructure across Iraq and the wider Gulf region.
Basra hosts many of Iraq's key oil facilities and foreign energy contractors, making the province a critical hub for the country's crude production and exports.
