US facilities in Qatar, Dubai hit as Israel intensifies strikes on Tehran
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Basij headquarters hit by Israel Defense Forces attacks
The gulf has descended into a widening cycle of violence as Iranian forces targeted key US diplomatic and military installations in the Gulf, while Israel launched a massive aerial campaign against security headquarters across the Iran region.
The Qatar Ministry of Defence confirmed today (4 March) that two Iranian ballistic missiles were launched at the country. While one was successfully intercepted by Qatari air defence systems, the second struck the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American military installation in the region, reports BBC.
Qatari authorities stated that there have been no casualties following the strike.
This escalation follows a drone attack on yesterday evening (3 March) that targeted the US consulate in Dubai.
Authenticated footage, BBC Verify, shows a drone slamming into the compound, followed by fire and black smoke billowing into the sky.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the drone struck a parking lot adjacent to the consulate's chancellery building.
"All personnel are accounted for," Rubio told reporters, describing the incident as a direct attack from a "terrorist regime".
The drone strike in the United Arab Emirates is part of a series of retaliatory measures launched by Iran since US-Israeli attacks began on Saturday.
Simultaneously, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it has hit dozens of military targets across Tehran.
IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee confirmed that the strikes targeted the headquarters of the Basij, a paramilitary force linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
The Israeli operation also decimated missile launch pads, air defence systems, and the supply and logistics directorate of the Iranian regime's ground forces.
Adraee warned that the IDF will continue to "intensify their strikes" on Iran's critical infrastructure.
