Myanmar president to pay 5-day official visit to India
It is the first high-level visit to India from Myanmar after the parliamentary elections were held in the neighbouring country from December to January.
Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing will undertake a five-day visit to India beginning on 30 May to explore ways to shore up bilateral ties in a range of areas including trade and defence.

Aung Hlaing, who is coming at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising several cabinet ministers, senior officials and business leaders, India's External Affairs Ministry (MEA) said today (28 May).
This will be the first visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to India in his current capacity.
During his visit to New Delhi, Aung Hlaing will hold discussions with Modi on 1 June "on further strengthening the historical and civilisational ties between the two countries."
The MEA said "Myanmar lies at the confluence of India's Neighborhood First, Act East and Indian Ocean policies" and the visit of Aung Hlaing to India "is expected to further strengthen and deepen the multi-faceted relations between the two countries".
