India successfully tests locally developed long-range land attack cruise missile
The ministry says the missile met all mission objectives, validating critical technologies and demonstrating India's growing long-range precision strike capabilities
India has successfully conducted the flight test of a locally developed long-range land attack cruise missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in the eastern state of Odisha today (15 June), the country's defence ministry said.
In a statement, the ministry said the missile met all mission objectives, validating critical technologies and demonstrating India's growing long-range precision strike capabilities.
Data collected by various tracking instruments deployed during the test confirmed the missile's successful performance, according to the statement.
The missile was developed by the state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), with all of its subsystems designed indigenously and with participation from Indian industry.
The defence ministry described the successful test as a significant step towards strengthening India's national defence ecosystem and enhancing its indigenous defence capabilities.
