India issues health advisory for Ebola
The health ministry confirmed that no Ebola cases have been reported in India so far.
India has issued a health advisory for passengers arriving from or transiting through Ebola-affected countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
Travellers showing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, bleeding or those who had direct contact with infected persons have been advised to immediately report to airport health authorities and seek medical care within 21 days of arrival, said the Directorate General of Health Services today (21 May).
The health ministry confirmed that no Ebola cases have been reported in India so far.
States have received Standard Operating Procedures for screening, quarantine, case management, and lab testing of suspected Ebola cases.
A high-level review meeting chaired by Indian Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava was held with Health Secretaries of all states and federally run territories to assess the country's preparedness and response measures for Ebola.
