Israel invests $730m into international image campaign amid falling US support
Known as “hasbara”, the campaign underscores a high-stakes effort to counter growing international criticism
Israel is funnelling nearly $730 million into its 2026 public diplomacy campaign, marking a dramatic increase aimed at reshaping Tel Aviv's global image after years of atrocities in Gaza, Palestine.
The approved budget represents almost a fivefold rise from last year's $150 million allocation, which stood at around $7-10 million before the Gaza war began in October 2023.
Known as "hasbara", the campaign underscores a high-stakes effort to counter growing international criticism.
According to recent polls and surveys, support is slipping, particularly in the US, long considered Israel's most vital ally.
