Iran commander says military ready for 'enemy's aggression' after Trump threat
Major General Amir Hatami says Iran's forces are prepared to confront any renewed attack as Trump weighs military, economic and diplomatic options.
Iranian Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami has said the country's armed forces are "fully prepared, vigilant, and ready" to face any renewed attack by the United States or Israel, reported Al Jazeera.
"We will not hesitate for a moment to defend Iran's independence, security, and territorial integrity," Hatami was quoted as saying by Iranian state media.
He said the military had previously defended the country's existence in the face of "enemy aggression".
Hatami's remarks come amid growing concerns across the Middle East that Washington could launch fresh strikes on Iran as the nearly seven-month war remains deadlocked.
US President Donald Trump said yesterday (20 September) that he was in a "deciding mode" on Iran, with options ranging from military action, including "wiping it out", to economic pressure or a peace deal.
Trump also said he would be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.
