Trump seeks greater control over NIH research funding through new oversight board

President Donald Trump is seeking an executive order that could create a new oversight board for National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants. The proposed board would include OMB Director Russ Vought and NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, with unanimous approval required for research funding decisions. The move could give White House officials greater influence over how NIH's congressionally appropriated funds are distributed.
