Fair Electronics restarts Samsung refrigerator manufacturing in Narsingdi after two years
Samsung Electronics Bangladesh and Fair Electronics Ltd have reintroduced a wide range of Samsung refrigerators to the Bangladesh market, with the newly relaunched models now available for consumers.
Fair Electronics Ltd has resumed production of Samsung-brand refrigerators in Bangladesh after a hiatus of nearly two years, restarting manufacturing at its factory in Shibpur, Narsingdi.
Samsung Electronics Bangladesh and Fair Electronics have reintroduced a wide range of Samsung refrigerators to the local market, with the newly relaunched models now available to consumers.
The companies officially relaunched the refrigerator range at the Samsung Partners Meet 2026 and Re-launch of Refrigerator, held at a city hotel yesterday. The relaunched refrigerator range was also introduced to Samsung's partner network.
Six models relaunched
The relaunched Samsung refrigerator portfolio ranges from 275 litres to 700 litres and includes six models – RS72 (700L), RS74 (676L), RT47 (465L), RT37 (345L), RT34 (324L) and RT29 (275L).
The new lineup is also available in finishes including Pebble Blue, Black Inox and EZ Clean Steel.
At the partners' meet, Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub, chairman of Fair Group, said they are committed to providing internationally recognised products to Bangladeshi consumers while maintaining Samsung's global quality and manufacturing standards.
Jungmin Jung, managing director of Samsung Electronics Bangladesh, said Samsung remains focused on innovation and exploring the potential of the Bangladesh market.
Speaking to TBS, Mohammed Mesbah Uddin, chief marketing officer of Fair Group, said the company began its relationship with Samsung in 2014 as a trading partner and started manufacturing Samsung products locally in 2018.
"We started manufacturing Samsung products as 'Made in Bangladesh' at our Narsingdi factory in 2018. The manufacturing operation continued until mid-2024. There was a break for some time due to certain policy-related issues. Now, we have restarted manufacturing from mid-2026," he said.
Fair Electronics is manufacturing the refrigerators under a complete knock-down process, using raw materials such as plastic granules and basic steel sheets and carrying out the production process at its electronics factory in Narsingdi.
"More than 40% value addition is taking place locally. We are also planning how to increase the level of value addition further," Mesbah said.
He further said, "We once sold a maximum of 70,000 to 80,000 Samsung refrigerators a year. Currently, Fair Electronics is manufacturing refrigerators for Samsung and another one brand, with combined production of around 115,000 units. We plan to increase production capacity to 150,000 to 200,000 units in 2027."
Fair Electronics has an annual refrigerator production capacity of around 7 lakh units, according to Mesbah.
