New trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' drops
It also features Odysseus battling the Cyclops, scenes from the Trojan War, and an encounter with the Laestrygonians, a cannibalistic race of giants
Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming "The Odyssey", unveiled during yesterday night's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus and features an all-star cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal and John Leguizamo.
The trailer offers a broader look at Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic, showing first glimpses of Charlize Theron as Circe and Robert Pattinson as Antinous, who attempts to seize the throne of Ithaca from Odysseus.
"The Odyssey" is Nolan's 13th feature film. He wrote the screenplay based on Homer's ancient poem and produced it with Emma Thomas under their banner Syncopy, with Universal Pictures distributing.
It also features Odysseus battling the Cyclops, scenes from the Trojan War, and an encounter with the Laestrygonians, a cannibalistic race of giants.
A separate trailer highlights the same epic world, showing Odysseus facing the Cyclops while Antinous plots to take control of Ithaca.
The cast also includes Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus and Zendaya as Athena, alongside a large ensemble featuring Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, Jimmy Gonzales, Elliot Page and Jovan Adepo, among others.
His previous film Oppenheimer (2023) grossed $958.8 million, earned 13 Oscar nominations and won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Like Oppenheimer, "The Odyssey" will be released on 17 July alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The film will also make history as the first narrative feature shot entirely on IMAX cameras, with advance 70mm screenings announced a year earlier in July 2025.
