Lionsgate begins worldwide hunt for live-action Naruto cast
Lionsgate has launched a global casting search for the lead roles in its upcoming live-action adaptation of Naruto, inviting aspiring actors from around the world to audition for the iconic characters Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno.
The worldwide search marks a major step forward for the long-awaited film, which is being written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the forthcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Casting for supporting characters will begin after the three members of Team 7 have been selected.
Announcing the search, Cretton said it was an honour to bring Masashi Kishimoto's beloved manga to the big screen in live action for the first time, adding that he was excited to find the actors who would bring Team 7 to life.
Kishimoto also expressed his enthusiasm, describing the Hollywood adaptation as a "miracle" and praising Cretton's involvement. He said he was looking forward to meeting the actors who would portray the characters he created.
First announced in 2024, the film is backed by Lionsgate and produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Emmy Yu and Jeremy Latcham. Naruto has sold more than 250 million copies worldwide across over 60 countries and territories.
