Govt extends film grant submission deadline to 1 April
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has extended the submission deadline for government film grants for the 2025–26 fiscal year by one month.
Filmmakers now have until 1 April to submit their full proposals, moving the date back from the previous 1 March deadline. Joint Secretary Mahfuza Akhter confirmed the extension, which allows producers, directors, and writers more time to finalise story outlines and production plans.
To date, the ministry has received 189 proposals for feature films and 140 for short films across three phases.
For the upcoming fiscal year, the government plans to award grants to 32 projects, including up to 12 full-length features and 20 short films. Applicants must provide one original copy of their proposal along with 12 additional sets. Officials indicated that this is likely the final extension, expressing hope that the extra time will help secure the required number of quality submissions.
