Farhan Akhtar-produced Indian Film Nominated For BAFTA Award
Farhan Akhtar is the only Indian filmmaker to receive a nod at BAFTA this year.
India has made its presence felt at this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts when the nominations were announced today, with the Manipuri-language film Boong – chronicling the story of a young boy and his single mother coping with the mysterious disappearance of his father from a remote village – listed in the Best Children's and Family Film category.
The film, backed by Bollywood actor–filmmaker–producer Farhan Akhtar's production house, is competing against movies such as 'Arco', 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Zootropolis 2.'
Farhan Akhtar is the only Indian filmmaker to receive a nod at BAFTA this year.
Directed by national award-winning Lakshmipriya Devi, Boong features Gugun Kipgen and Bala Hijam. The film had its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
Produced by Farhan Akhtar, the film was commercially released in India in September 2024.
