Drake's Grammys boycott continues
Drake is once again staying out of the Grammy Awards race, choosing not to submit any of his music for consideration at the upcoming ceremony.
According to Billboard, the rapper will not submit his singles or any of the three albums he released this year, Iceman, Maid of Honour and Habibti, for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards.
The decision continues Drake's long-running boycott of the Recording Academy's biggest night. The five-time Grammy winner has repeatedly questioned the awards' relevance and fairness, particularly after The Weeknd received no nominations for his 2020 album After Hours.
Drake previously criticised the Grammys for what he described as a disconnect between influential music and award recognition. In 2021, he withdrew his two nominations and has largely avoided submitting his work ever since.
The rapper made an exception in 2024 for Her Loss, his collaborative album with 21 Savage, which received a nomination for Best Rap Album.
His latest withdrawal comes as the Grammys faces renewed criticism over its decisions and the introduction of the Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. BTS and other artists have also protested the category, raising further questions about the Recording Academy's relationship with major acts.
Despite releasing three albums in a single year, Drake will therefore remain absent from the 2027 Grammy race, leaving one of the world's biggest artists outside contention once again.
