President Fakhrul urges EC to ensure free, fair elections
The president thanked the Election Commission for conducting the 13th parliamentary election fairly and impartially.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the Election Commission to work with neutrality, integrity and accountability to strengthen and consolidate democracy in Bangladesh.
He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with a four-member Election Commission delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at Bangabhaban today (27 August).
The delegation included Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Md Anwarul Islam Sarker and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.

The chief election commissioner congratulated Mirza Fakhrul on assuming office as president and briefed him on the commission's activities. These included preparations for union parishad and municipality elections, NID corrections and NID services for Bangladeshis living abroad.
Nasir Uddin sought the president's overall cooperation in carrying out the commission's responsibilities.
The president thanked the Election Commission for conducting the 13th parliamentary election fairly and impartially. He urged the commission to maintain its reputation and public confidence.
He also called for upcoming local government and other elections to be held freely, fairly and impartially under the current commission, assuring that his full cooperation would continue.
Relevant secretaries of the President's Office were present at the meeting.
