9 killed as two buses collide head-on in Sylhet

At least nine people were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Sylhet–Dhaka highway in Sylhet's Osmaninagar upazila this morning (7 August).
The accident occurred at around 7:30am in the Dayamir area. The victims' identities could not be confirmed immediately.
Osmaninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Morshedul Alam Bhuiyan said a Bengal bus and a Unique bus collided head-on in Dayamir.
The impact caused the Unique bus to plunge into a roadside ditch, he said.
The bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue of Osmani Medical College Hospital, the OC stated.
He added that several passengers from both buses were injured in the crash and taken to hospitals for treatment.
"I also came to the hospital with several of the injured," the OC said.
