Agriculture minister, state minister mourn Jamir Uddin Sircar
Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Amin ur Rashid and Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Member of Parliament, expressed profound shock and sorrow at the passing of Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, former Speaker of the National Parliament, former minister, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party National Standing Committee member.
Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar died early today while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli. He was 94 years old.
In a joint condolence message, the minister and the state minister described Sircar as a veteran politician, accomplished parliamentarian and wise leader whose lifelong commitment to democratic values left a lasting impact.
"As Speaker of the National Parliament, he played a pivotal role in strengthening parliamentary democracy. The nation will remember his lasting contributions with deep respect, as he helped shape the country and its people throughout his distinguished political career," they said.
They added that the nation has lost an experienced, wise and dedicated public servant whose service made a lasting difference.
The minister and the state minister prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and extended their deepest condolences to his bereaved family, relatives, colleagues and well-wishers.
