'I don't read social media': Scaloni dismisses allegations of Fifa bias towards Argentina
The problem nowadays is that someone throws out a comment, maybe completely unfounded, but because of some minor incident, the situation suddenly gets blown out of all proportion, says Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni.
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has dismissed suggestions that Fifa has favoured his team through refereeing decisions or the World Cup bracket draw, saying he pays no attention to such claims.
Speaking on Thursday (2 July) ahead of Argentina's round of 16 clash against Cape Verde on Friday, Scaloni said speculation on social media often turns baseless claims into major controversies.
"I don't read social media. It's very simple. The problem nowadays is that someone throws out a comment, maybe completely unfounded, but because of some minor incident, the situation suddenly gets blown out of all proportion. I think you just have to completely detach yourself from all that," he told reporters.
Scaloni said Argentina remain fully focused on their World Cup campaign and are not distracted by allegations surrounding the tournament.
