BBCC gala highlights Canada-Bangladesh business ties
The Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada hosted its Business Gala Night 2026 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites in Richmond Hill on 27 June, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, bankers, investors, professionals, elected officials and community leaders.
The event focused on strengthening business, trade and investment relations between Canada and Bangladesh.
The programme was presided over by Alamgir Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada.
Iqbal Roshd, Director and Senior Vice President of BBCC, delivered the welcome remarks.
Md Jashim Uddin, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada, attended the event as chief guest, while Doly Begum, Member of Parliament, attended as guest of honour.
Subir Kumar Dey, Chief Advisor of BBCC, also spoke at the event and shared views on strengthening business collaboration between the two countries.
In his keynote remarks, Md Jashim Uddin highlighted growing opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation between Canada and Bangladesh.
He encouraged Bangladeshi-Canadian entrepreneurs to work together to build stronger business partnerships and assured the community of the Bangladesh High Commission's continued support in promoting bilateral trade and investment.
Doly Begum acknowledged the contributions of Bangladeshi-Canadian entrepreneurs to Canada's economy.
She also emphasised the importance of government support programmes, business innovation and community collaboration in fostering sustainable economic growth.
The evening featured presentations by BBCC leaders on business development, technology, investment, funding opportunities and bilateral trade.
Shipon Howlader, Director of BBCC, delivered a presentation on "IT Outsourcing and Technology Partnerships", highlighting opportunities for technology collaboration between Canada and Bangladesh.
Tanvir Nawaz presented on "Bangladesh and Canada: Building the Next Chapter of Trade, Investment, and Partnership", focusing on the need to expand bilateral trade, investment and long-term economic cooperation.
Shahidul Islam Mintu, Director and Vice President of BBCC, spoke on "Business Funding Opportunities".
He discussed government funding programmes, grants, financing options, banking support and export opportunities available to Canadian businesses.
Ferdous Ahmed, Director and Vice President of BBCC, spoke on "Bilateral Business Opportunities Between Canada and Bangladesh", highlighting potential areas for investment, trade and commercial partnerships.
In his presidential address, Alamgir Rahman reaffirmed BBCC's commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, promoting investment, facilitating business networking and strengthening Canada-Bangladesh economic relations.
The BBCC leadership team presented commemorative crests to Md Jashim Uddin and Doly Begum in recognition of their support for strengthening Canada-Bangladesh relations and the Bangladeshi-Canadian business community.
The cultural segment featured performances by singers Shamit Barua and Mohuya Pariyal.
The formal programme concluded with closing remarks by Nasiruddin Mahmud, Director of BBCC, who thanked the guests, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and members of the organising committee.
A raffle draw was also held during the event, with prizes sponsored by BBCC directors and community partners.
BBCC said the Business Gala Night concluded with renewed commitment among business leaders and community members to strengthen entrepreneurship, innovation, trade, investment and economic cooperation between Canada and Bangladesh.
