Bangladesh showcases 32 companies at Korea Import Expo
Bangladesh presented products and services from 32 companies at the Korea Import Expo 2026, held at COEX Hall B in Seoul from 23 to 25 June, to strengthen trade ties with South Korea and global buyers.
The Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul, organised Bangladesh's participation in the three-day event.
The exhibition was jointly inaugurated on 23 June by the Chairman of the Korea Importers Association, YoungMi Youn, and the Ambassador of Bangladesh to South Korea, Toufiq Islam Shatil, alongside other invited ambassadors and officials.
Following the inauguration, the Chairman of the Korea Importers Association and other guests visited the Bangladesh Pavilion.
The expo featured 200 booths from over 40 embassies, international companies, Korean importers, distributors, and trade-related organisations.
The exhibition showcased products from sectors including food and beverages, cosmetics, consumer goods, household products, health and wellness items, electronics, industrial materials, and innovative technologies.
The Bangladesh Pavilion was inaugurated by Ambassador Toufiq Islam Shatil and President of the Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahab Uddin Khan.
The pavilion was organised under the theme "Invest in Bangladesh: Advancing Trade and Investment Through Strong Bilateral Relations".
Alongside the main exhibition, a chamber delegation held a bilateral meeting with the chairman of the Korea Importers Association.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and to enhancing import-export mechanisms between Bangladesh and South Korea.
The meeting followed a memorandum of understanding signed between the Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Korea Importers Association in September 2024.
A 41-member business delegation led by Shahab Uddin Khan travelled to Seoul in support of Bangladesh's participation in the expo.
Over 15 business-to-business meetings connected Bangladeshi entrepreneurs with Korean and foreign buyers during the expo.
The 32 participating Bangladeshi companies presented products and services from sectors including apparel, textiles, garment accessories, premium leather goods and footwear, jute, eco-friendly biodegradable items, handicrafts, agro and processed food products, information technology and artificial intelligence-driven software solutions, and logistics services.
The Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association was also represented at the expo.
At a reception hosted by the Bangladesh Embassy on 26 June, Ambassador Toufiq Islam Shatil assured the chamber and delegation members of the embassy's continued support for trade and investment between Bangladesh and South Korea.
The reception was attended by the Vice President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency, former Ambassadors of South Korea to Bangladesh, Lee Yun Young and Park Young Sik, and the Honorary Consul General of Bangladesh in Incheon, South Korea, David Kim.
