BUET holds orientation for 2025–26 freshers
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology held an orientation programme for newly enrolled Level-1/Term-1 undergraduate students of the 2025–26 academic year on Saturday, 27 June 2026.
The programme was held at the BUET Central Auditorium in the afternoon.
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon attended the event as the chief guest, while Prime Minister's Adviser on Education, Primary and Mass Education, Mahdi Amin, was present as the special guest.
BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Eqramul Hoque chaired the programme. BUET Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury also attended as a special guest.
In his speech, the education minister congratulated the students on securing admission to one of the country's leading educational institutions.
"We are working to transform the country's educated population into human resources. Today's students will play an important role in this regard. We must all work together for the country's overall development," he said.
Mahdi Amin said one of the government's key goals is to ensure an education system that prepares students to become skilled, employment-oriented and responsible citizens.
"We need to build an education system that combines knowledge with skills and prepares students for real life," he said.
Addressing the freshers, BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Eqramul Hoque said they had secured places at the university after passing through a highly competitive admission process.
"You must make the best use of this opportunity. You have to complete your courses within the stipulated time while maintaining BUET's rules and discipline. Pursue higher education abroad, but maintain your responsibility towards the country," he said.
BUET Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury said admission to BUET had given the students social recognition and responsibility.
"You now represent BUET. Therefore, you have a great responsibility towards the country," he said.
The orientation programme was moderated by BUET Registrar Professor Dr Nayeb Md Golam Zakaria.
Professor Dr AKM Masud, Director of Student Welfare of BUET, served as the convener of the programme.
Deans of all faculties, heads of departments, directors of institutes, centres, offices and directorates, hall provosts, teachers, students and guardians attended the event.
