Dhaka University has imposed restrictions on the entry of outsiders and tightened vehicle movement across the campus during Fifa World Cup matches, citing security concerns.
Dhaka University administration has restricted the entry of outsiders and imposed tighter controls on vehicle movement across the campus during Fifa World Cup matches as part of heightened security measures.
The university's Proctor Office announced the decision in a press release today (24 June), saying the measures were introduced to ensure the overall security of the university and its students.
According to the notice, the restrictions came into effect today and will remain in force during the Fifa World Cup 2026.
Under the new measures, vehicles without Dhaka University stickers will not be allowed to enter the campus through key access points during match periods.
Emergency service vehicles, however, will remain exempt from the restrictions.
The affected entry points include Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, the Burn Unit intersection, Shibbari crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi intersection and Nilkhet.
The university said emergency services include ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists, ride-sharing vehicles, food delivery services, online shopping delivery vehicles and other government vehicles.
Public transport and heavy vehicles will continue to face movement restrictions on campus at all times, the notice added.
The Proctor Office also said the decision may be reviewed and adjusted based on stakeholder feedback and the prevailing situation.
