One more arrested over RAB member Motaleb killing in Ctg's Jungle Salimpur
So far, 28 accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an accused in connection with the killing of RAB-7 Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Motaleb during an operation in Jungle Salimpur of Chattogram on 19 January.
In a press release issued today (20 June), RAB-7 said the accused, Ali Akbar, 26, was arrested following a raid conducted on the basis of intelligence information indicating his presence in the area.
According to RAB, a team carried out the operation at around 4:30pm on 18 June in the Salimpur Union of Sitakunda upazila and detained the suspect.
RAB said Ali Akbar had been identified as an accused during the investigation conducted by Sitakunda Police Station in connection with the case.
Following his arrest, he was handed over to Sitakunda police for further legal proceedings.
The incident occurred during an operation to apprehend armed terrorists in the Jungle Salimpur area on 19 January, where miscreants attacked RAB members, resulting in injuries to four members.
The injured were rescued and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment, where Abdul Motaleb succumbed to his injuries.
RAB-7 Chattogram filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station on 22 January, naming 29 individuals for culpable homicide and 150-200 others as unknown accused.
So far, 28 accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
