NRBC Bank holds student banking conference in Sirajganj
NRBC Bank organised the Student Banking Conference 2026 in Sirajganj on Saturday to promote financial literacy, safe transactions and savings habits among students.
Held at the Officers' Club under the overall supervision of the Bangladesh Bank, the conference was organised by NRBC Bank as the lead bank. The theme of the conference was "Safe Transactions Through Financial Literacy".
Thirty-five commercial banks participated in the event, which aimed to enhance financial awareness among students, encourage savings and strengthen financial inclusion. Teachers and students from different schools and colleges across Sirajganj attended the conference.

NRBC Bank Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan chaired the conference, while Sirajganj Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganapati Roy attended as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Bank Financial Inclusion Department Additional Director Kazi Mutmainna Tahmida attended as a special guest.
NRBC Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, joined the programme virtually. NRBC Bank Head of Rajshahi Zone Asim Kumar Das and Sonali Bank Assistant General Manager Uday Kumar Dutta were also present, among others.
The event featured an interactive quiz competition and the distribution of gifts among participating students.
Speaking as chief guest, Ganapati Roy said students are the future leaders of Bangladesh and should develop an understanding of economics and banking from student life.
"The government's financial literacy initiatives are strengthening the country's institutional economic framework," he said.
Kazi Mutmainna Tahmida highlighted Bangladesh Bank's efforts to make banking services accessible to students through school banking. She said Bangladesh Bank had introduced necessary policy support to ensure students can access banking services free of charge.
She said 59 of the country's 61 banks are currently offering student banking services. As of the January–March quarter, the number of student bank accounts stood at around 62.73 lakh, with total deposits amounting to Tk2,910 crore.
In his virtual address, Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan said banking services are now available at people's fingertips.
"Students can access banking services conveniently from home through digital platforms and mobile applications. NRBC Bank remains committed to encouraging savings among students and providing them with modern, student-friendly banking solutions," he said.
Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan said NRBC Bank is providing banking services to students free of charge in line with Bangladesh Bank guidelines.
"The bank has also introduced specialised services to support students pursuing higher education both at home and abroad. Through its network of nearly 650 branches and sub-branches across the country, NRBC Bank is offering comprehensive banking services and educational support to students nationwide," he said.
