Imam Hasan killing: SAD issues 24-hr ultimatum to revoke bail, arrest accused SI
According to media reports, Sajjaduzzaman, who allegedly fired the first shot at Imam, secured bail from a lower court in Dhaka on Tuesday (19 August).
The Student Against Discrimination (SAD) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum demanding the cancellation of bail and immediate re-arrest of the then Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sajjaduzzaman, accused in the killing of Imam Hasan during the July uprising.
According to media reports, Sajjaduzzaman, who allegedly fired the first shot at Imam, secured bail from a lower court in Dhaka on Tuesday (19 August).
In a joint statement, SAD President Rifat Rashid and General Secretary Hasan Inam expressed deep concern and condemnation over the court's decision, calling it "extremely alarming and unacceptable."

They warned that if the bail is not revoked and the accused is not arrested within the next 24 hours, the organisation will be compelled to announce tougher protest programmes.
On 20 July last year, during a quota reform protest, Imam was shot in Dhaka's Jatrabari area allegedly by then Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shamim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakir Hossain, and SI Sajjaduzzaman.
Imam was a 12th-grade student at Adamjee Nagar MW College in Narayanganj.
