World’s sleepiest mammals

Eight of the 10 longest-sleeping mammals on Earth sleep for an average of at least 16 hours a day. These are mostly small mammals, which tend to sleep the longest because their faster metabolisms build sleep pressure more quickly. Additionally, many rest in protected locations, such as caves, burrows, or tree hollows, where the risk of predation is lower.
