Ramadan 2026: mapping the world's longest and shortest fasts

The number of daylight hours varies across the world. As it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, people there will observe shorter fasts this Ramadan, lasting about 12 to 13 hours and gradually increasing over the month, while those in the Southern Hemisphere will fast for around 14 to 15 hours, gradually decreasing.
