The 1954 World Cup quarter final between Austria and Switzerland remains the only match in World Cup history in which players from both teams, Austria's Theodor Wagner and Switzerland's Josef Hügi, scored hat tricks. Played in sweltering 40°C heat despite being held in Switzerland, the match became known in German as Hitzeschlacht von Lausanne ("The Hot Battle of Lausanne").
