Vast scope for Bangladesh-India joint venture industries in border areas: Trivedi
Longstanding unresolved issues between the two neighbours could be addressed through regular high-level dialogue and sustained engagement, Dinesh Tripathi says.

There is immense potential for setting up industrial establishments through joint ventures between Bangladesh and India in the border areas, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi said today (3 August).
"If such initiatives are implemented, regional production and supply chains will be further strengthened, new investments will come, and employment will be created," he made the remarks during a meeting held at the International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh (ICC Bangladesh) Secretariat in Dhaka.

Various issues regarding ways to deepen bilateral trade, investment and regional economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
Trivedi noted that Bangladesh and India have the potential to emerge as one of the world's major economic hubs by leveraging their strengths in innovation, education, healthcare and skilled human resources.
He also said longstanding unresolved issues between the two neighbours could be addressed through regular high-level dialogue and sustained engagement.
The Indian envoy urged business leaders to contact the Indian High Commission if they face any obstacles in expanding trade and investment between the two countries, assuring them of the mission's full support.
Speaking at the meeting, ICC Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman stressed the need to reduce the bilateral trade gap by ensuring easier market access for Bangladeshi products in India, removing non-tariff barriers, simplifying customs procedures and expediting the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
He also emphasised the importance of revitalising SAARC, implementing the BBIN Motor Vehicles Agreement and enhancing cooperation under BIMSTEC to strengthen regional economic integration.
The meeting also highlighted the need for greater cooperation in easing business visa procedures and expanding collaboration in renewable energy, digital trade, artificial intelligence, healthcare, education, skills development and technology partnerships.
