Bata Shoe posts Tk37cr profit in Q1
Bata Shoe Company in Bangladesh, a listed company on the stock exchanges, has posted Tk37.12 crore in the first quarter of 2026, a slight increase from Tk36.83 crore in the same time of the previous year, according to its financial statements.
While its revenue surged 6% to Tk379 crore supported by strong Eid-season demand, strategic business execution, and continued consumer confidence, said a press release.
In a board of directors meeting held on Thursday approved the quarterly financials of the company.
During the first quarter, its earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk27.14, which was Tk26.92 at the same time of the previous year.
In a press release it said, Bata Shoe achieved a new milestone through strong business performance in the first quarter of 2026. Despite ongoing global economic uncertainty and changing local market conditions, the company posted remarkable results during the January-March 2026 quarter.
Increased consumer purchases during the Eid season, a diversified product portfolio, and sustained nationwide demand played a significant role in its revenue growth, in addition, Bata's extensive retail network, expansion of alternative sales channels, and positive customer response to new collections contributed to the company's record performance, it said.
"Despite pressures from inflation, logistics costs, brand promotion expenses, and overall operating costs, Bata Bangladesh managed to maintain strong growth momentum throughout the quarter through efficient production planning, disciplined business management, and strategic sourcing initiatives. At the same time, the company continued to provide affordable and accessible footwear products to customers across the country by maintaining competitive mid-range pricing, it said.
According to the company's unaudited financial statements, operating profit in the first quarter of 2026 stood at Tk58.5 crore, while profit after tax Tk37.1 crore, helping the company achieve a record quarterly profit.
The company stated that as Eid, one of the country's biggest festivals, fell within the first quarter this year, consumer demand increased significantly at the very beginning of the year. To meet this demand, Bata ensured maximum utilization of its production capacity while making its procurement and supply chain management more efficient, it said.
