Nassa Group workers block Mohakhali-Tejgaon road demanding unpaid wages
About 500 workers blocked the road at around 4:30pm, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Workers of Nassa Group staged a sit-in on the capital's Mohakhali-Tejgaon road today (8 June), demanding payment of outstanding wages and allowances.
About 500 workers blocked the road at around 4:30pm, bringing traffic to a standstill.
According to eyewitnesses and traffic sources, the workers' demonstration disrupted traffic in both directions along the Mohakhali-Tejgaon corridor and caused severe congestion on surrounding roads.
Following discussions with police and relevant authorities, the workers left the road around 7pm. However, worker leaders have not yet announced any further course of action.
Meanwhile, traffic authorities said that vehicular movement on the Mahakhali-Tejgaon link road started returning to normal gradually after the road was cleared.
Earlier on 4 June, workers withdrew a blockade programme on Tejgaon Link Road after occupying the road for around seven hours over the same demands.
At that time, a meeting was scheduled for 8 June following discussions with the authorities.
However, those concerned said no final resolution had yet been reached.
