The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the price of Jet A-1 aviation fuel for both domestic and international flights by around 10.3% for October, continuing an upward trend in jet fuel prices.
For domestic flights, the price has been set at Tk182.71 per litre, up from Tk165.65 in September. This represents an increase of Tk17.06 per litre, or 10.3%, from the previous month.
For international flights operated by local and foreign airlines, the price has been fixed at $1.1882 per litre, including customs duties and VAT.
The September rate was $1.0770 per litre, meaning the international rate has increased by $0.1112 per litre, or around 10.3%.
The revised rates were determined based on the average published Platts rate for Jet A-1 between 5 September and 4 October, the US dollar exchange rate considered in Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation's (BPC) letter of credit settlement and other relevant cost factors, according to a BERC order issued today (7 October).
The commission said it reviewed international Jet A-1 prices, the exchange rate and related costs before finalising the October rates.
The revised prices will come into effect from midnight, according to the BERC order.
Jet fuel prices have now risen for the second consecutive month.
In September, BERC raised the domestic rate to Tk165.65 per litre from Tk159.52, while the international rate increased to $1.0770 from $1.0358 per litre.
