World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh national round held in three divisions

The national round of World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh 2026 was held simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram and Rangpur on Saturday (15 August), drawing more than 200 students from around 72 teams.

Under the theme "Robots Meet Culture", participants competed in four categories—Future Innovators, RoboMission, RoboSports and Future Engineers—while judges evaluated their performances throughout the day, according to a press release.

Dhaka division

The Dhaka divisional competition was held at host venue United International University (UIU).

Of the 110 registered participants, 97 attended the competition. Four teams took part in RoboMission, six in RoboSports, 17 in Future Innovators and seven in Future Engineers.

NASA Space Innovation Camp President Ariful Hasan Opu, UIU Public Relations Director Abu Sadat and Bangladesh Open Source Network President Munir Hasan attended the event as guests.

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology Department of Mechatronics Engineering Professor and Head Dr Md Helal Al Nahiya was also present.

Chattogram division

A total of 67 students from 26 teams competed at host venue Chittagong Independent University (CIU).

Of the participating teams, 23 competed in the Future Innovators category and three in RoboMission.

CIU School of Engineering Dean Professor Dr Asif Iqbal and teachers and officials of the university attended the event as guests.

Rangpur division

At Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College, 36 students from 12 teams displayed their innovative robots and projects in the Future Innovators category.

Bangladesh Open Source Network Vice-President and University of Dhaka Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Professor Dr Lafifa Jaman and Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College Acting Principal Khondkar Abdul Alim attended the event as guests.

WRO Rangpur Regional Director and Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology Department of Computer Science and Engineering Professor Dr SM Jahangir Alam was also present.

Members of the judging panel, the institution's vice-principals for the English version and school sections, and teachers concerned also attended.

ICT Lecturer Md Bayezid Hossain coordinated the event as venue coordinator, assisted by teachers of the institution's STEM Club, to ensure its smooth and successful completion.

Divisional results

Dhaka division

• RoboMania in the RoboMission Senior category and Minion in the RoboMission Elementary category won bronze medals.
• Screw Loose Crew and Number One Nish won bronze medals in the RoboSports category.
• Robo Sapiens received an honourable mention in the RoboSports category.
• Quantum Physics in the Elementary section and Team CARE in the Senior section won gold medals in the Future Innovators category.
• W Hole Cube in the Elementary section and Roboholics and Tarar Bari in the Junior section won silver medals in the Future Innovators category.
• SIC Astrobot in the Junior section and Reactor Forge in the Senior section won bronze medals in the Future Innovators category.
• ArcheoExplorer in the Elementary section, Cybernetic Apex and Vega in the Junior section, and The Enthusiasts in the Senior section received honourable mentions in the Future Innovators category.
• Blueprint won a bronze medal in the Future Engineers category.
• Wired and Tired and Durnibar received honourable mentions in the Future Engineers category.

Chattogram division

• Maverick Nexus won a gold medal in the Future Innovators Senior category.
• Robo Bugs in the Elementary section, The Innovatrons in the Junior section and Nebucoders in the Senior section won silver medals in the Future Innovators category.
• Vega won a bronze medal in the Future Innovators Junior category.
• Pro Boys and 12 Taka Warriors in the Elementary section and Robo Starts and Technova in the Junior section received honourable mentions in the Future Innovators category.

Rangpur division (Saidpur)

• Odyssey X won a gold medal in the Future Innovators Senior category. Team members Sadman Al Haque, Abida Wadud and Mahir Abrar Rahman are students of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur.
• Deep Thinkers won a silver medal in the Future Innovators Junior category. Team members Muammar Ehsanullah, Tahsin Ahmed Mridha and Partha Roy are students of Cantonment Public School and College, Saidpur.
• The Lazy Engineers of Cantonment Public School and College, Saidpur, won a bronze medal. The team comprised Sajaib Hossain Sabib, Ryan Islam and Shoaib Hossain Rosan.
• Zenith Robotics of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur, also won a bronze medal. Team members were Tahmidul Islam Chowdhury, Samara Wahed and Sidratul Muntaha Nazil.

The organisers said international-standard robotics competitions played an important role in developing students' creativity, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, technological knowledge and innovative thinking.

They said the competition also gave Bangladeshi students an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in the international robotics arena.

Speakers at the event said students must acquire not only the ability to use technology but also the capacity to innovate and solve problems to address the challenges of the future.

They said such competitions would play an important role in helping students develop those skills.

A team selection camp will be held in Dhaka based on the national-round results.

The Bangladesh team selected from the camp will represent the country at the Asia-Pacific Regional WRO Open Championship in India from 25 to 27 September and the 22nd World Robot Olympiad International Final in Puerto Rico, United States, from 8 to 10 December.
