Walton secures three honours at SDG Brand Champion Awards

Walton High-Tech Industries PLC has secured three honours at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026 for its renewable energy, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability initiatives.

The awards were presented at the fourth edition of the SDG Brand Champion Awards, held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday, according to a press release.

Walton received an award in the "Affordable and Clean Energy" category for its net-zero initiatives and energy efficiency programmes. It was also recognised in the "Climate and Environment" category for its green transformation and climate adaptation initiative.

The company was further named the "Most Sustainable Electronic Item Manufacturer of the Year".

The recognition follows Walton's success at the 2025 edition, when it also received awards in three categories.

The awards were received on behalf of Walton High-Tech Industries PLC by Md Yusuf Ali, Additional Managing Director; Md Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Shahjalal Hossain Limon, Tanvir Anjum and Protic Kumar Modak, Senior Executive Directors; Zoheb Ahmed, Chief Marketing Officer; and Md Mostafizur Rahman Razu, Head of EHS and Sustainability.

"We are delighted and proud to receive the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026 in three categories. We sincerely thank the organisers and jury for recognising Walton's continued efforts towards sustainable industrial development," Md Yusuf Ali said.

He said Walton had aligned its manufacturing operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Bangladesh's national energy and power policies by integrating environmentally sustainable practices across its production facilities and workplaces.

The company has undertaken several renewable energy and environmental initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and promote the efficient use of energy and water, he added.

Walton is implementing a 50MW solar power project at its headquarters in Chandra, Gazipur, entirely through its own financing. It has so far installed 19.20MW of solar power capacity through rooftop, ground-mounted and floating solar installations.

The facilities generate approximately 22,450MWh of electricity annually, meeting around 17% of the company's total electricity demand, according to the press release.

Walton said it safely recycled nearly 75% of its treated wastewater through its effluent treatment plant. The company has also expanded its e-waste collection and recycling initiatives and promoted plastic recycling and upcycling to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.

The awards were organised by the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave, with support from the Sustainable Brand Initiative and the Bangladesh Brand Forum, to recognise organisations contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year, organisers received 457 nominations across 19 categories. Following an evaluation process, 59 brand initiatives, including those of Walton High-Tech Industries PLC, were selected for recognition.
