Uttara University holds Civil Engineering Alumni Reunion 2026
The Civil Engineering Alumni Association of Uttara University organised the "Civil Engineering Alumni Reunion 2026" on campus, bringing together former and current students, faculty members, university administrators, and distinguished guests.
The day-long gathering celebrated the enduring bond between the university and its alums while bringing together different generations of the civil engineering department, according to a press release.
The event commenced with a joint tree-planting initiative by the chief guest, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-18 SM Jahangir Hossain, and Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University Professor Dr Eaysmin Ara Lekha, symbolising a shared commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Jahangir formally inaugurated the reunion by releasing pigeons.
Addressing the gathering, he underscored the importance of such alum events, noting that they strengthen the relationship between the institution and its graduates and offer a platform to share experiences and achievements with current students. He also acknowledged the vital role of alums in enhancing the university's reputation and advancement.
In her remarks, Lekha highlighted the university's continuous efforts to ensure academic excellence, research, innovation, and a student-friendly learning environment.
Describing the alums as an integral part of the institution, Lekha said their professional milestones and active engagement enrich the university's identity and future journey. She commended the Civil Engineering Alumni Association's initiatives and assured continued institutional support for future endeavours.
Professor Dr Mohammad Abdur Rashid of the Department of Civil Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET); Professor Dr Md Sultanul Islam, dean of the School of Civil, Environment and Industrial Engineering at Uttara University; and Razia Sultana, wife of the chief guest, attended the event as guests of honour.
The reunion was organised in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering, the Civil Engineering Society, and the Office of External Affairs, with SSARAH Travels serving as the title sponsor.
President of the Civil Engineering Alumni Society and event secretary Abu Talib PK delivered the vote of thanks, while Assistant Professor and Acting Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering Md Ashraful Alam presided over the session.
The day's festivities concluded with a live performance by the popular Bangladeshi musical band Shironamhin, which drew more than 14,000 students to the campus.
