Upay, UCSI University partner to develop cashless campus
Upay and UCSI University Bangladesh Campus have launched a digital payments partnership for tuition fees, campus purchases, and scholarship disbursements.
Upay is the mobile financial service of UCB Fintech Company Limited, a subsidiary of United Commercial Bank PLC.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Banani Club in Dhaka.
Chairman and Managing Director of UCSI University Bangladesh, Ariful Bari Majumder, said the agreement would help advance cashless transactions on campus. Shyamal B Das, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Upay, said the partnership would support digital payments for students.
Senior officials from both organisations were present at the event.
The initiative will see Upay's QR-based merchant-payment system implemented campus-wide, allowing students to make cashless payments at the cafeteria, bookstore, retail outlets, and other authorised merchants.
Students will also be able to pay tuition fees and receive scholarship payments through Upay, streamlining their financial experience on campus.
The organisations plan to introduce student identity cards using radio-frequency identification technology to support efficient, secure campus access and student identification.
The partnership aims to advance digital payments in higher education and turn UCSI University Bangladesh Campus into a cashless smart campus.
