UCB signs deal to support decarbonisation
United Commercial Bank PLC has signed a memorandum of understanding with IVY Decarb Marketplace SL to support sustainable business practices and decarbonisation efforts in Bangladesh's textile and garment sector.
The agreement was signed under the theme "Partnering for a Sustainable NZCE Future", referring to net zero carbon emission.
Under the collaboration, ITX Trading SA may contribute by providing strategic guidance, industry insights and global best practices related to sustainability, supply chain decarbonisation and responsible sourcing.
Through the strategic collaboration, UCB and IVY Decarb Marketplace aim to facilitate access to green and climate-focused solutions for textile and garment businesses in Bangladesh.
The partnership will also support the implementation of decarbonisation initiatives, helping businesses move towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.
The signing ceremony was attended by UCB Chairman Sharif Zahir.
The agreement was signed on behalf of UCB by its Managing Director and CEO (Current Charge) Nabil Mustafizur Rahman and Additional Managing Director for Wholesale Banking Adnan Masud.
IVY Decarb Marketplace SL Chief Executive Officer Javier Bernal Dionis signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
IVY Decarb Marketplace Managing Director José Manuel Caballero and Business Development Director Md Masud Rana were also present at the ceremony.
ITX Trading SA Country Head Javier Carlos Santonja Olcina, along with other distinguished guests, also attended the event.
UCB said the collaboration reflects its continued commitment to sustainable finance, green transformation and supporting Bangladesh's journey towards a low-carbon future.
