UCB marks financial literacy day with nationwide programme
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) organised a nationwide programme on the first Monday of March to mark Financial Literacy Day.
The programme was held simultaneously at the bank's head office and branches across all divisions, with the aim of promoting financial awareness among people in both urban and rural areas.
This year's theme was "Ensuring safe cashless transactions through financial literacy." The programme was inaugurated by Additional Managing Director Nabil Mustafizur Rahman and conducted by Senior Executive Vice President Shahbaj Talat.
Speaking at the event, Rahman said digital transactions are increasing rapidly and that customers need the knowledge to use mobile and online banking services safely and securely. He said the bank's focus is to provide accurate information, raise awareness and encourage secure digital transactions.
UCB also outlined its plans for 2026, including expanding digital banking services, increasing public awareness on cybersecurity and strengthening customer education initiatives. The bank said it will place particular emphasis on reaching rural and underserved communities with modern banking services.
UCB said financial literacy is an ongoing responsibility and that it will continue similar initiatives to help people transact digitally with confidence. The bank also reaffirmed its commitment to introducing more programmes to strengthen financial awareness nationwide.
