Shwapno distributes food aid to disaster-hit families in Bandarban
Retail chain Shwapno distributed emergency food supplies to indigenous and vulnerable families in Bandarban affected by recent floods and landslides.
The assistance was provided to families in Reicha, Tongkaboti, and Bandarban Sadar after recent floods and landslides, according to a press release.
The beneficiaries were identified with support from local development organisation ASIX, after the affected families were found.
The disasters left many families homeless, forced them to seek temporary shelter and made access to food an urgent concern, the release said.
A senior Shwapno official said meeting basic needs during natural calamities was among the greatest challenges.
"At Shwapno, we believe every responsible organisation has a duty to stand beside communities during such difficult times," the official said.
"We hope this initiative will help ease the suffering of affected families and support them as they recover and rebuild their lives."
Shwapno said it remained committed to supporting vulnerable communities through humanitarian initiatives during disasters.
