Presidency University celebrates Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti
Presidency University campus came alive with the spirit of two towering luminaries of Bengali literature as it celebrated "Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti 2026".
The message of humanism propagated by Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore and the ideals of rebellion, equality and secularism championed by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam converged on a single stage before a generation ready to carry that legacy forward.
"Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti 2026" was more than an annual cultural celebration.
It reflected Presidency University's core belief that education is not merely the pursuit of a degree; rather, it is a responsibility to uphold and carry forward a nation's culture, values and conscience.
Presidency University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury attended the programme as the chief guest.
Among others present were Presidency University Board of Trustees Principal Adviser Professor Dr Md Anwarul Kabir; Registrar Md Sakir Hossain; School of Engineering Dean Professor Dr Shahidul Islam Khan; School of Business Dean Professor Abul Kalam; School of Law Dean Professor Mohammad Azaharul Islam; Controller of Examinations Md Zahedur Rahman; Director of Administration and Student Affairs Afroza Helen; heads of different departments; and faculty members, officers, staff and students of the university.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury said, "This event plays a vital role in nurturing among our students a love for Bengali literature and culture, fostering creativity, and deepening their respect for our national heritage."
The programme was jointly organised by the Presidency University Student Affairs Office and the Presidency University Cultural Club.
