New Navy chief pays tribute to Liberation War martyrs
Newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Dr Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim paid tribute on Friday (24 July) to members of the Armed Forces who were martyred during the 1971 Liberation War.
He laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment and later signed the visitors' book there, according to a press release.
Vice Admiral Misbah-ul-Azim was subsequently welcomed by the principal staff officers upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters.

A smartly turned-out naval contingent presented him with a guard of honour. He inspected the guard and took the salute.
The principal staff officers and other senior Bangladesh Navy officials attended the ceremony.
Following Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's directives, the Navy chief remains committed to developing the Bangladesh Navy into a strong and modern blue-water force capable of safeguarding the country's vast maritime territory and blue economy, the release said.
He also aims to strengthen the sovereignty and security of Bangladesh's maritime territory by equipping the Navy with modern frigates, submarines, advanced sonar and radar systems, and other advanced technologies.
Vice Admiral Misbah-ul-Azim assumed office as Chief of Naval Staff on Thursday (23 July).
