MTB Foundation observes World Thalassaemia Day
MTB Foundation, in partnership with Bangladesh Thalassaemia Hospital, recently observed World Thalassaemia Day 2026 under this year's theme, "Hidden No More: Finding the Undiagnosed. Supporting the Unseen."
The highlight of the event was a blood donation programme organised by MTB Foundation at the corporate head office of Mutual Trust Bank PLC, where a good number of MTBians participated with enthusiasm.
The blood donated by MTB employees will be used for transfusions for thalassaemia patients undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Thalassaemia Hospital.

An awareness session was also held to create understanding among MTBians about the prevention, management and treatment of thalassaemia.
The blood donation programme and awareness session marking World Thalassaemia Day 2026 were inaugurated by Mutual Trust Bank PLC Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman.
Bangladesh Thalassaemia Samity President Dr MA Matin, Adviser Syed Deedar Bakht and Executive Director Dr AKM Ekramul Hossain Swapan attended the event.
Mutual Trust Bank PLC Deputy Managing Directors Rais Uddin Ahmad and Usman Rashed Muyeen, Group Legal Affairs Division Divisional Head Shafayat Ullah, Group Human Resources Division Chief People Officer Masud Mushfiq Zaman, and MTB Foundation Chief Executive Officer Samia Chowdhury were also present.
Other senior officials of the bank also attended the event.
