Grameenphone introduces ‘Instagram basic mode’ with Meta
Grameenphone has launched "Instagram basic mode", enabling customers to continue using selected Instagram features even after they have exhausted their regular data balance.
The service, introduced in partnership with Meta and powered by Telenor Linx, positions Grameenphone as one of the first telecommunications operators in Asia to roll out this feature.
With basic mode, customers can view notifications, read captions, and browse standard images and reels without an active regular data package.
Customers seeking full access may purchase a data package directly through Instagram. Upon activation, the app automatically returns to its full-feature mode, restoring high-resolution images, videos, and other standard functions.
Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam of Grameenphone said the service was developed to meet customers' increasing demand for uninterrupted social media access.
"As digital lifestyles become increasingly connected and uninterrupted access to social media becomes more important, 'Instagram basic mode' enables our customers to stay informed and connected even when they run out of data," he said.
"This innovation reflects our commitment to delivering a seamless and customer-centric digital experience for all," he said.
